George Marra


George Marra, 70, of Lewiston, NY, died on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at home. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph "Lefty" and Rose M. (Morreale) Marra.
George was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.  He graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1961 and later earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. He was employed as an educator by the Niagara Wheatfield School District and taught at Pekin Elementary School in Sanborn, NY. He and his brother then owned PG Sports and Sports Service in Niagara Falls. George later became a Niagara County Sheriff Deputy and served as a bailiff for Judge Jacqueline Koshian. George was also a co-owner of Lefty's Sports Bar and more recently owned the Trail of Smoke smoke shop. George was a longtime devoted member of St. Jude Shrine in Lewiston, NY. He was also a member of the Y.M.C.A. in Niagara Falls. He enjoyed running and jogging and was an avid sports fan. George was best known for his sincere kindness towards all people and animals.
George is survived by his life partner of thirty years, Donna Witkowski; two sons, Joseph M. Marra, M.D. of Daytona Beach, FL and Matthew G. Marra of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother, Peter Marra of Niagara Falls, NY; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is also survived by his former wife, Mary Lou (Zarosl) Marra.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 16th at 10 AM in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Shrine, 975 Ridge Road, Lewiston, NY 14092.
