Steven K. Clapp

NIAGARA FALLS — Steven K. Clapp, formerly of Niagara Falls, of Cuba, NY, died on Sunday, May 11, 2014 in Buffalo General Hospital.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on July 30, 1938, attended local schools, including the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School.

Mr. Clapp was a veteran of the US Army. He was employed as a chemist for Union Carbide Company, retiring in 1986. Following his retirement from Union Carbide, he worked for the NYS Armory in maintenance, retiring in 1995. He loved the outdoors golfing, boating and his  property in Cuba. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees.

Survivors include his wife, the former Patricia "Patty" (Anthony) Clapp; daughter, Deborah Ann Clapp Fifield (James) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; stepson, Michael Moody of Niagara Falls; two grandchildren, Katherine M. Clapp and Daemon Fifield; a brother, Andrew Syruws (Connie) of    Niagara Falls; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Snyder; sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Syruws of   Niagara Falls, LouAnn Jordan, Charles Anthony, Arthur Anthony, Judy Hosseini, Bonnie Johnson, Dorothy Bruyan and David Anthony; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Syruws and a brother, Richard Syruws.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where services will be held at 8 PM. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Buffalo Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
