Lawrence "Larry" Rutkowski of Houston, TX, joined his Heavenly Father on December 9, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born on August 21, 1955 to the late Edwin Rutkowski of Niagara Falls, NY, and Amy Pontiere of Phoenix, AZ.
Larry earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Buffalo State College in heating and air conditioning. He worked for several local companies before moving to Palm Beach, FL, to become an instructor at Palm Beach Community College, where he made many friends of colleagues and students alike. Most recently, Larry was employed by Galveston Community College as a heating and air conditioning instructor. An avid outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping. Larry was also known for his artistic talents. He often enjoyed painting and drawing outdoors to be able to capture the beauty nature has to offer. Larry also enjoyed spending time with family and looked forward to the birth of his second granddaughter.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Donegan of Seattle WA; three sisters, Teresa (Tim) Carson and Lori Rutkowski, both of Niagara Falls NY, Gail Jansen of Phoenix AZ; and a brother, Thomas Rutkowski of Niagara Falls NY. He is also survived by a niece, Lexi Carson of Niagara Falls NY; and two nephews, Timothy Carson of Niagara Falls NY and Edward Yale of Tempe AZ; a granddaughter, Sophia Donegan and soon to be born granddaughter, Claire Donegan. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin Rutkowski.
Friends may call on Friday, December 14th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th St., cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday with Rev. Stewart Lindsay officiating. Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery Lewiston, NY. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
