Daniel P. "Moe" Mahoney

NIAGARA FALLS — Daniel P. "Moe" Mahoney, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on Monday, November 5, 2012, at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 13, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Russell and Jean (Anderson) Mahoney.

Mr. Mahoney attended schools in Buffalo, NY.  Moe, as he was known by family and friends, served in the United States Navy from April 9, 1959 until his honorable discharge on February 12, 1963. He came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1965. Mr. Mahoney was employed as a welder/fabricator for Modern Disposal. Moe was a lifelong member of Gastown Sportsmen's Club in Tonawanda, NY and was a Class A Member of the American Legion.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Mr. Mahoney is survived by three sons, Daniel (Connie Mulholland) Mahoney of Niagara Falls, NY; John (Alice) Mahoney of Virginia and Shawn (Sara) Mahoney of Friendship, NY; three grandchildren, Chris (Megan) DeShong of Pennsylvania; Katlyn Mahoney of Virginia and Cody Mahoney of Virginia; one sister, Patricia Mahoney Meyers of Wheatfield, NY; his former spouse, Shirley (Gary) Cameron of Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no prior visitation. A United States Navy Military Honors Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 15th, at 1:30 PM at the Gastown Sportsmen's Club, 154 East Niagara Street, Tonawanda, NY, where a Celebration of Life Gathering will follow the Navy Ceremony. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263. Arrangements were entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007).
