Anthony Joseph "Tony" DeLuke

SYRACUSE — Anthony Joseph "Tony" DeLuke, 91, of Lewiston, NY, passed from this life on Monday, July 7, 2014 in St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY, while surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 6, 1923 in Wishaw, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Severini) DeLuke.

Mr. DeLuke attended schools in Pennsylvania.  On March 21, 1945, Tony married the love of his life, the former Eva Bernice Stevens, in St. John de LaSalle Church, whom he met while working at Carborundum. She predeceased him on May 20, 2013, after 68 years of marriage. He retired from John Hancock Insurance Company, where he was employed as an insurance agent. Mr. DeLuke enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country western music, taking road trips with his wife, working on cars, picture framing and matting, and helping at his daughter Christine's horse ranch. Above all, Tony was a quiet, strong and loving father.

Mr. DeLuke is survived by five children, Suzanne DeLuke of Niagara-Wheatfield, NY, Christine (Thomas) Hafner of Syracuse, NY, Anthony (Karen) DeLuke of Lewiston, NY, Martin (Gail) DeLuke of Camas, WA, and David (Dana) DeLuke of Niagara-Wheatfield, NY, and was predeceased by one son in 1991, Rodney DeLuke. Tony is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11  great-grandchildren; two brothers, Peter (late Bernice) DeLuke and Ronald DeLuke, both of Niagara Falls, NY, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four siblings, Alfred (late Shirley) DeLuke, Jean (John of Niagara Falls, NY) Cheff, Katherine Cowell and Joseph "Juney" (late Mary Jane) DeLuca.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 11th, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where a funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Andrew Lauricella officiating. Prayers of committal and interment will continue in Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
