Keith M. Fox, 81, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on July 2, 2014 after an 8-month battle with cancer. Keith was born February 14, 1933 in Wisconsin and had a full life.
From rebuilding model A's at the age of 14, to his serving on Lew-Port Board of Education, the story of Keith's life is one of a variety of endeavors and giving to his community. His family moved to Wheeling, WV with his dad's new job as director of YMCA where he graduated high school. He joined the Army after that, serving in Korea towards the end of that conflict. Keith then got his BS in Business from the University of West Virginia, going on to work in sales. His interest in serving then took over, with a career change to the YMCA. After a few stops, including Detroit in the turbulent 60's, he ended up in Niagara Falls. To avoid moving yet again, he got his teaching degree at Niagara University and joined his wife teaching in the Niagara Falls district. With on and off layoffs, he also had periods of working as a contractor and financial advisor. After retirement, he was fully engaged with volunteer work with AARP, Lewiston Environmental Board, the LewPort Board of Education; and an active member of Youngstown First Presbyterian church.
Keith was predeceased by his first wife, Tamara, and survived by his wife, Karlene; sons, Michael (Sandra) and Daniel (Laura); step-daughters, Nadine Neal and Brenda DeGregorio; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Youngstown, NY on Saturday, July 12th at 11 AM. Donations in his honor can be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
