George H. Glenn


George H. Glenn, 83 of Heritage Village, Gerry and Lakeland, FL, formerly of Ransomville and Niagara Falls, died on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing. Born on November 29, 1930 in Niagara Falls , son of the late Homer and Cornelia Nickerson Glenn.
He graduated from Wilson Central School in 1949 and in 1961 graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. George was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the United States Marines. He was employed as a teacher for over 30 years, retiring from the Grand Island School District in 1991. A lifelong member of the Free Methodist Church of North America he currently was a member of the Gerry Free Methodist Church, Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post 1280 and NYS Retired Teachers Association. George loved studying the bible, teaching Sunday School and bible studies. He also enjoyed bowling, sports and reading.
Husband of 22 years to H. Marie Bray Thaxter Glenn, whom he married in 1992; and the late Lorraine Downs Glenn whom he married in 1950 and died in 1990; father of Brenda (Ed Larsen) Glenn of Olympia, WA and Wendy (Rev. Daniel) Banks of New Brighton, PA; grandfather of four; great-grandfather of one; step-father of Cheryl Wolner of Cyprus and Donna Tower of Ransomville; step-grandfather of four and step-great-grandfather of nine; brother of Audrey Rhinehart of Cattaraugus; step-brother of Geraldine Shope of Buffalo, Ethel Jones of Wilson, Jack Dolan of Florida and the late Nancy McNutt.
Funeral service at 2 PM on Thursday in Seeley Auditorium at Heritage Village. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to Heritage Village or the Gerry Free Methodist Church. Arrangements by Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville.
