Doris B. Myers


Doris B. (Winans) Myers, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, died on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at home. She was 91. She was born in Niagara Falls on May 10, 1922, the daughter of Leo and Anna Winans, attending schools here.
As a young woman and before the war, she worked for E.I. DuPont as a bookkeeper and later for the Salvation Army. During wartime, Mrs. Myers sang for the troops. Most of her adult life was devoted to raising her five children and volunteer work.
Mrs. Myers was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, on August 12, 1976. Survivors include her children, Gary Myers (Kate) of Lewiston, Sheila Perinelli (Paul) of Wheatfield, Sandra Costello (David) of Santa Clara, CA, Bernadine Young (late Jim) of Monaca, PA and Raymond Myers of San Diego, CA; a brother, Robert Winans (Joyce) of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Lorraine Huffman and Donald Winans.
Friends may call on Monday after 10 AM in the  LANE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at 12 noon with the Rev. Rex Stewart officiating. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown Chorus, 100 Church Street, Youngstown, NY 14174.
