TOWN OF NIAGARA —
Robert "Bob" Bucci, 65 years old, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, surrounded by his family at home, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born June 30, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Pietro and Margherita "Lida" (DeRubeis) Bucci.
Bob was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He was a 1967 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and received his bachelor's in business administration from the University of Buffalo in 1974. Bob's entire professional career was with the UCAR division of Niagara from 1971 until 2001. He started in production and through several promotions he ended up as the plant manager, closing the final plant on Highland and College Ave. in 2001. Bob continued with a consulting business until the time of his death.
Bob enjoyed many activities during his retirement; he was a prolific bowler, participated in classic car shows with his 1968 GTO, collected Lionel Trains, was an avid Buffalo Sabres and New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed spending time at the casino. He was a member of St. Mary of the Cataract Church and Cristoforo Colombo Society, both in Niagara Falls. Bob was also a volunteer at Mount St. Mary's Hospital as a Van-Go driver for over ten years, served on the Town of Niagara Beautification Committee, and Co-Chaired the Town of Niagara Bicentennial Car Show in 2012.
Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara (Witkowski) Bucci, whom he married on September 5, 1980; his children, Jennifer (Matthew) Krause of Manassas, VA, Robert (Kelly) Bucci of Tonawanda, NY; his brother, Pasquale Bucci of Niagara Falls, NY; his mother-in-law, Agnes Witkowski of Niagara Falls, NY; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mathew and Patricia Witkowski of Niagara Falls, NY; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259-4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Flowers are graciously declined.
