Tessie Walsh


Tessie (Zinkievich) Walsh, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Friday, February 15, 2013 in Northgate Manor Health Care Facility. She was 91. She was born in Buffalo, NY on September 16, 1921, the daughter of Gregory and Irene (Bondaruck) Zinkievich.
She attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School. Mrs. Walsh worked as legal secretary to attorneys, Mattio, Carosella, Morinello and Certo for twenty-two years, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Walsh was a long time member of St. Stephan's Episcopal Church, working as a volunteer. She also volunteered for the Niagara Falls soup kitchen.
She was predeceased by her husband, David Walsh in 2004. Survivors include two sons, Gregory J. Walsh (Renee) of Louisville, KY, and Dennis S. Walsh (Debra) of Grand Island; two sisters, Dorothy Glasgow of Lewiston and Vera Russo of Michigan; four grandchildren, James Walsh, Lindsay (Jeremy) Jaskowiak, Nicole (Daniel) Wohlleb and Kristen (Donnie) Payne; three great-grandchildren, Gracie, Carson and Hudson Wohlleb; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Steven Gregory and Walter Zink; and a sister, Stella Anderson.
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Stephan's Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. The LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., is handling the funeral arrangements.
