Gerald R. Fay

LEWISTON — Gerald R. Fay, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away, suddenly, on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Our Lady of Peace in Lewiston. He was 90. He was born in Pittston, PA on August 11, 1922, a son of the late Robert and Genevieve (Pryor) Fay. He attended Pennsylvania schools and moved to Niagara Falls in 1943.

Mr. Fay entered the United States Army on February 20, 1943 and fought in World War II     receiving numerous medals, including the American Theater Service Medal, European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medals with 3 Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Niagara Falls. He married Alta A. Morrow in 1965, and they remained happily married for 32 years until her passing in 1997. Mr. Fay worked in several area restaurants, most notably at John's Flaming Hearth as the bartender for 26 years.

He was a member of the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142 and the Youngstown Yacht Club, and he was a sports fan who enjoyed baseball, football and hockey, but his greatest joy was his time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fay is survived by four children, Robert (late Beverly) Allan, Jacqueline (Peter) Eodice and Elizabeth (late James) Jacobs, all of Niagara Falls, and Ronald "Jo Jo" (Patricia) Allan of the Town of Niagara. He is also survived by his sister, June Mitchell of Dunmore, PA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Genevieve, Edward, Carol and Kenneth Fay; and his grandson, David Allan (2009).

There will be no prior visitation and burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in Pendleton, at the convenience of the family. If desired, donations  may be made in Mr. Fay's behalf to Our Lady of Peace Activities Center, 5285 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements made by the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC.
