Cathy M. Stypick

LEWISTON — Cathy M. (LaRoe) Stypick, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away at Mount St. Mary's Hospital on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, after a lengthy illness.  She was 55.  She was born in Niagara Falls on December 19, 1957, a daughter of the late Carlton Z. and Gloria B. (Robillard) LaRoe. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.

She worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education for 24 years until her retirement, due to illness, in 2007 and was the first and only female to ever attain the position of carpenter.

Mrs. Stypick was always quick to laugh and was known by everyone for her bubbly and happy-go-lucky personality. She enjoyed arts and crafts, bingo, the casino and crocheting, but her greatest joy was her time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Stypick and her three children, Shannon, Chantel and Terri Stypick, all of Grand Island. She is also survived by seven siblings, Gail (Chuck) Stypick of Colchester, VT, Vicki (Dennis) Delong of Niagara Falls, Carla (Bo) Blystone of Puyallup, WA, Carl (Patty) LaRoe of Milton, VT, Jeff (Dawn) LaRoe of St. Albans, VT, Paul (Lisa) LaRoe and Chad LaRoe all of Swanton, VT; and two grandsons.

Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, on Friday from 4-8 PM, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM, with Rev. Pat Bradley. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston.
