Wendy M. (Kernin) Haley, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Hospice House in Lockport, NY.
Born on August 4, 1944, she was the daughter of Linton E. and Marjorie L. (Taylor) Kernin.
Wendy graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School and also from Doyle's Beauty School in Buffalo, NY, eventually owning and operating River View Hair Fashions in Youngstown and The Blue Frog Antiques. Wendy also owned and operated The Yankee Girl Restaurant in Youngstown, and was more recently a co-op partner in the Country Doctor Antiques. Wendy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Youngstown, NY.
Wendy loved to travel and do her craft shows with her longtime companion, George "Tad" Allen.
Wendy was a loving mother to her sons, John Haley (Pam) and Michael Haley, and was a wonderful sister to Linda Harris (Don), Valerie Caldwell (John) and Connie McKay (John); grandmother to Amber, Tyler, Johnathon, Olivia, Angelina, Jeffery, Justin and Joshua; great-grandmother to Aden, Andrea, Nevea.
George "Tad" Allen, her companion of 33 years, died February 2011. Also a thank you to David Graf from the family - thanks for being a good friend.
Wendy donated her body to the UB Medical School. The family will be greeting relatives and friends on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Wendy's home at 495 Seneca Street, Lewiston, NY, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wendy Haley's name may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
The family would like to thank Niagara Hospice for the wonderful job they did to help the family through such a difficult time. Also, we would like to thank Dr. AJ Bax; nurse and supervisor in charge, Debbie; Reverend John "Jack" Marshal; transport and aides, Bob Grisham, Don Hudson, Mary Ann Wolf and social workers, Marvin and Patric Egan from Niagara Hospice.
