Edward J. "Ned" Stoneham

IRVING — Edward J. "Ned" Stoneham, 67, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on          Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Lake Shore Health Care Center in Irving, NY, following a lengthy illness.  Born on June 4, 1946 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Roberts) Stoneham.

Mr. Stoneham attended local schools and graduated from the former Bishop Duff High School. Ned, as he was known by family and friends, later earned a Bachelor's degree in History from California State University at Fullerton. He proudly served in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War, from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1976. Mr. Stoneham was employed as a surveyor for various companies. Ned was a member of the Seabee Veterans of America. He was an avid sports fan and pet lover and enjoyed Native American history.  

Mr. Stoneham is survived by two children, Ineke Margaret (Sylvain) Stoneham-Browa of        Washington, DC and Jack Stoneham of Grand Island, NY; three grandchildren, Aidan,         Christopher and Rhys and two brothers, Richard Stoneham and Bernard (Blanche) Stoneham, both of Niagara Falls, NY. Ned is also survived by two former spouses, Maria Stoneham of Washington, DC and Belinda Stoneham of Polson, MT; a longtime companion, Brenda Frazier and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Albert "Jim" Stoneham.

There will be no prior visitation. A private graveside service will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association (SMSA), P.O. Box 667, Gulfport, MS 39502. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007).
