Doris K. Spencer

NORTH TONAWANDA — Doris K. (nee Wellen) Spencer, age 57, of North Tonawanda, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Wellsville, NY to the late Jack and Edith (Welch) Wellen, she had been a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda. Doris was the Owner and Operator of Paperback Swap N'shop Bookstore on Webster Street in North Tonawanda.  She enjoyed baking and reading, and loved good films.

She is survived by two children, Jennifer M. (David) DeFrank and Clyde R. (Christy) Spencer, Jr., both of North Tonawanda; six grandchildren, Desiree, Devin, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Joshua and Nicholas; a sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Steve) Gadt of Niagara Falls, NY; and a brother, Donald (Valerie) Wellen of Akron, OH.  

Family will be present on Monday, May 5, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda, where a funeral service will be held at 8 PM, following the visitation. Rev. Jeremy Lopez will officiate. Private burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst, NY.
