NIAGARA FALLS —
On October 1, 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1962. John was employed at Goodyear for thirty plus years until his retirement, a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish (St. Leo's), a former member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club and the 3F Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved watching and attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Kopacz) Nichols of the Town of Niagara; his children, John (Leanne) Nichols, Jr. of Pendleton, NY, Karen (Joseph) Winker of Windermere, FL; his grandsons, Joseph Jr., Ryan, Jesse, Jake and Sammy; his brother, Walter (Carol) Nichols and sister, Barbara (Michael) Rufrano, both of Niagara Falls, NY; also several nieces, nephews, aunts and brothers and sisters-in-law. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Frank) Ficarra.
Friends may call on Friday, April 26th from 4-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th St., cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent DePaul Parish (Prince of Peace Site), 1055 North Military Rd., with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Burial with military honors following in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
