NIAGARA FALLS —
Rev. Robert Anderson Harris departed this life unexpectedly on June 9, 2013.
Robert A. Harris was born on March 27, 1952, the fifth child of the late Ezra Harris, Sr. and Carrie A. Hawkins (Harris-Jackson). He attended the former LaSalle Sr. High School, where he graduated from in 1970 with high honors and as a decorated athlete. After high school Robert joined the US Marine Corps where he served with pride as a Lance Corporal until his honorable discharge in 1974. Following his discharge from the Marine Corps, Robert went on to further his education and advanced his career by attending Haywood University, majoring in criminal justice, Chabot College and San Mateo College, majoring in business administration and finally attending NCCC, majoring and completing degrees in both nursing and substance abuse counseling. Robert held employment on both the east and west coasts, holding positions at Freiden Company as branch manager, Compucorp as an account executive, United Airlines as a computer operator, on-site computer tech at LaSalle Sr. High School, and as an LPN at various medical facilities and agencies in the Buffalo/Niagara region.
Robert received Christ at an early age. Later in life he became a member of Faith Temple COGIC under the pastorship of the late Elder James A. Hamilton, where he realized his calling to the ministry and was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ. At the time of his passing, he was the assistant pastor at the Old Pathway Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Nimine Burnett.
Robert was a man that loved God and his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son and three daughters, Nicole Clarice (Bobby) McKnight, Robert Anderson Harris, Jr., Cindy Jenelle (Anthony) Franklin, Alexandria Harris; 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; four brothers and five sisters, Richard (Diana) Harris, Sr., Ezra (Carolyn) Harris, Jr., Paul (Phyllis) Harris, Sr., Lena (John) Randolph, David Jackson, Yvonne (Bobbie) Harper, Charlene (Vincent) Harris-Wright, Deborah Harris, Tanzie Valentine; two aunts, Charlene Majors - "auntie" and Cynthia Russell; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Hillard Harris.
Visitation, Saturday 10 AM in The Old Pathway Holiness Church. Funeral services 11 AM in the church. Burial, Acacia Park at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by WILLIAMSON FUNERAL HOME, 635 Main Street.
