Manathia Kay Dias


Manathia Kay (Jordan) Dias, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. She was 71. Born on December 9, 1941in Monroe, MI, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James (Minnie Stoutamire) Jordan.
Kay graduated from high school in Michigan and moved to the Niagara Falls area in 1963. She was a graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School's Nursing Program and worked as a health aide prior to becoming disabled. She married Gerald Dias of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on October 28, 1978 in Lewiston. Mrs. Dias loved to entertain and socialize. She enjoyed having a house full of people, whether they were strangers or friends. Her favorite pastime was spent playing cards and visiting the casino.
In addition to her loving husband of 35 years, she is survived by six sons, Wilbur, Derek and Kevin Watson, all of Niagara Falls, Mark (Sara) Watson of Andalusia, AL, Sandellyo (Minnie) Kauba and Robert Watson, both of North Carolina; two daughters, April Jones and Rachael Watson, both of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Amanda Cook and Adell Caddie, both of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Sandy (Diane) Reed of Niagara Falls and Paul (Mary) Jordan of Detroit, MI; an adopted son, Michael Sturdivant; Godson, Charles Woods and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Anna R. Curry, Minnie Lee Jordan and Mary L. Gilkey.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Tuesday at the Bethlehem Revival Church, 2010 Virginia Avenue, where services will commence following visitation. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements by the WILLIAMSON FUNERAL HOME, 635 Main St., Niagara Falls, NY.
