Donald C. Walke

NIAGARA FALLS —

Donald C. Walke, at age 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Schofield Residence in Kenmore, NY, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 18, 1949 to the late Ernest J. and Marguerite (nee Jamieson) Walke.

A Niagara Falls native, Donald resided in Western New York throughout his life. He             graduated from LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY. Donald then earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Tri-State University, Angola, Indiana. In 1978, he began working at Jenss Department Store in Niagara Falls, NY, where he worked as a Manager until 1998. Shortly after, he also became a Manager at Burlington Coat Factory, Cheektowaga, NY, until his retirement in June of 2012. Donald was a member of Bacon Memorial Church and the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.

Donald is survived by his brother, Ralph (Marie) Walke; sister, Bonnie (Ray) Mather; two nephews, Michael Walke and Andrew Mather; one niece, Kimberly Parkes; six grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Also survived by his longtime companion, Jackie Daugherty; "Papa Don" to Kevin, Joanne and Peter Daugherty and the late Robin Daugherty; and her son, Brian.

No prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at GRECO FUNERAL HOME, 2909 Elmwood Ave. (near Sheridan Dr.), at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's name to Hospice-Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227.
