Helen F. (Siola) Gorczynski, 94, of Niagara Falls, NY, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on November 6, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Karol and Anna (Wilk) Siola. On August 12, 1939, she married Walter A. Gorczynski in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where Helen also attended Parochial School and later Trott Vocational High School. Walter predeceased her on February 9, 1989.
Helen's career crossed both manufacturing and retail industries, including Kimberly Clark, Bell Aerospace (during WWII), and Beir's Department Store where she was a buyer for the children's department, and enjoyed frequent trips to NYC. Helen finished up her career at Jenss (China Dept.) and AM&A's (Women's Dept.). She was a member of Divine Mercy (formerly St. Stanislaus Kostka) Parish and drew great comfort from her Marian devotions and the rosary. Over the past 25 years she enjoyed going to the LaSalle Senior Center.
She is survived by her son, Walter Gorczynski and daughter Mary Gorczynski, both of Raleigh, NC; sister, Valerie Kurek. Also several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Stanley Siola, Frank Siola, Fr. Roman Siola and sister, Theresa (Siola) Schultz.
Friends may call Friday, November 1st, from 6-9 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319-24th St., cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 24th and Niagara Sts., with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Burial following in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
