Frank J. Grano


Frank J. Grano, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Sterling House of Niagara in Wheatfield, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Agatta (Rizzuto) Grano.
Frank was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. He later attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. Frank served in the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. On September 23, 1950, he married Marjorie L. (Stoner) Grano. Mrs. Grano predeceased him on March 12, 2010.  Frank was employed as a chemist at Occidental Chemical Company in Niagara Falls until his retirement in the mid 1980's. Mr. Grano was an avid golfer. In his leisure time he also volunteered for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Art Park in Lewiston, NY, and served as an Election Officer for the City of Niagara Falls.
Mr. Grano is survived by his four children, Frank M. (Lynn) Grano of West Seneca, NY, Barbara L. (Donald) Wittenhagen of Indiana, James W. (Theresa) Grano of California and Joseph A. Grano of Florida; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one sister, Teresa (late Roy) LaForge of California; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation/Volunteer Department, 621-10th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
