Florence C. Placek

LEWISTON — Florence C. (Wojtowicz) Placek, 85, of Lewiston, NY, passed away June 28, 2013. Born March 28, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late John and Angela (Swiatek) Wojtowicz and attended local schools. Florence married Raymond Walter Placek on November 11, 1950, and they were married for 40 years until his passing on July 15, 1991. She was a former member of the American Legion Portage Post No. 1465 Woman's Auxiliary and a volunteer at Our Lady of the Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, NY. Florence was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed the Friday night gazebo gatherings with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Lawrence (Carol) Placek of Lewiston, NY, Michael Placek of Palm Beach Shores, FL, John (Margaret) Placek of Cambria, Karen (Kevin) Mahoney of Lewiston, NY, Mark (Shari) Placek of Niagara Falls, NY, Richard Placek of Sanborn; grandchildren, Steven (Shauna)Amato, Kristen (Matthew) Davis, Christopher(Jamie) Mercer, Michael (Holly) Placek, Sarah   Mercer (Bill Pippard), Jonathan (Sarah) Mercer, Kate Placek, Leah Placek, Elaina Velky and Lily Placek; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Mercer, Kara Pippard and Harper Placek; brothers, John Wojtowicz of Arizona, Benjamin (Clara) Wojtowicz of Lewiston, NY; sisters-in-law, Emily Eliasz, Pauline Placek and Paola Wojtowicz; brother-in-law, Frank Deuro. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Scarlett; sisters, Lottie Deuro, Stella Rutkowski, Sophie Szwajda and Alfreida Wojtowicz and brothers, Chester, Fred and Alfred.

Friends may call Monday, July 1st from 4-7 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319-24th St., cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Parish (Prince of Peace site) with Rev. Julio Ciavaglia officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH. Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 1023 Swann Road, PO Box 167, Youngstown, NY 14174.
