Veronica Corsaro

NIAGARA FALLS — Veronica "Freda" (Ciraolo) Corsaro, 92, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in Niagara Falls, NY. Freda was a daughter of Samuel and Josephine (Gallina) Ciraolo, and grew up in Niagara Falls on Ferry Avenue. Freda was happily married to William Corsaro from January 1941 until William's passing in 1986. She lived her entire married life on Ashland Avenue, and in the past few years lived at Sterling House Niagara in North Tonawanda, NY.

Freda was well-known in Niagara Falls for her great baking skills and her wedding cakes graced numerous wedding tables over 30 years of baking. She also baked hundreds of birthday, graduation and special occasion cakes. She created her own recipe and kept it a secret for her baking business, but she was generous with her knowledge and taught several others the tricks of her baking trade, and they went on to become bakers as well. Her bakery business was so well-known that her husband Willie said that he had lost his name and was known in Niagara Falls as "Freda's husband!" She loved to play cards and bingo and the "sisters card party nights" were sacred to them all.

Freda was the mother of James (Kathleen) Corsaro of Troy, NY, and the late William Corsaro. Her grandchildren, Denise (Marc), Matthew (Mira) and Katherine mourn her passing, as do her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Marissa and Trent. Her sister, Mary (late Hank) Corsaro, Elaine (late Joe) Marra and many nieces, nephews and friends also mourn her death. She was predeceased by her sisters, Janette (late Richard) Laurri and Josephine (Joseph of Lewiston, NY) Magliarditi; and brothers, Samuel (late Grace) Ciraolo and Fred (late Mary) Ciraolo.

There will be no prior visitation. Private funeral services and interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY, will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
