Angelo Guglielmi, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Campo di Fano, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Costantino and Maddalena Guglielmi.
Angelo immigrated to Niagara Falls, NY, in 1948. On April 21, 1951, he married Maria (Colasante) Guglielmi in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Guglielmi predeceased him on April 28, 1997. For over 35 years, Angelo was employed at E.I. DuPont Co. in Niagara Falls until his retirement. Angelo was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, especially with his sporting dogs, and most recently, his beloved Penny. In his leisure time, he also enjoyed tending to his garden, cooking, wine-making, listening to opera, dancing, tinkering around in his garage, and most of all, spending time with family.
Mr. Guglielmi is survived by his two children, Dominic J. (Teresa) Guglielmi of Lewiston, NY and Rose (Matthew S.) Rajczak of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren, Laura Guglielmi and Dominic Guglielmi; one nephew and several cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother, Dominic Guglielmi.
Angelo's family wishes to thank Dr. Edward Ventresca, Dr. Sami Raphael, the physicians and nurses at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, the Visiting Nurses Association and Niagara Hospice for their care, compassion and support. Angelo requested that his body be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo for medical research.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
