LOCKPORT — Theresa R.  (Schultz) Candella, 87, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Woodstock, MN, she was the daughter of the late Otto John and Mary Magdalin (Goeppel) Schultz.

Theresa moved to Sioux Falls, SD at an early age with her family and attended local schools. On January 22, 1944, she married Joseph S. Candella, Sr., at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. For 37 years, Theresa worked at Carborundum Company, Globar Division in Niagara Falls until her  retirement. Theresa was a longtime parishioner of St. Leo's Church where she was also a member of their Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Carborundum Alumni Association, and in her younger years participated in local bowling leagues. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and was known, along with her   husband, to be exceptional dancers. Above all, Theresa was devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren.   

In addition to her husband of 69 years, Mrs. Candella is survived by three sons, Joseph S.    (Bonnie) Candella, Jr. of Newfane, NY, James (Joann) Candella of Wheatfield, NY, and John C. (Sharon) Candella of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one brother, Francis Otto Schultz and three sisters, Marcella (Irvin of Sioux Falls, SD) Wierenga, Caroline (late William) Marcolini and Darlene Schultz.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, January 30th at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
