Vito Damone

GLENDALE, AZ — Vito Damone, 75, of  Glendale, AZ, passed away on December 28, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 17, 1937. He was the son of the late Frank Damone and Frances Pelo. Predeceased by sisters, Mary and Marion; and a brother, Charles.

He served in the US Army as a Radar Mechanic. After moving to Niagara Falls, he was employed at Hooker Chemical (Occidental Chemical) where he was the Union Stewart. He studied Labor Law at University of Buffalo and Cornell University. He retired after serving 35 years.

He was a devoted United Way volunteer, Solicitor and Counselor at Oxy Chemical. He served on the board of American Red Cross and Association for Handicapped Children and Adults, and many community groups. He was a member of the LaSalle Masonic Lodge #132.

After moving to Reno, NV, he grew to love the west where he spent time gardening, oil painting and caring for his horse, Annie. Vito and Gloria moved to Arizona to be closer to family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; step-mother, Frances; sister, Kathy; son, Frank       Damone (Eleanore); daughters,  Donna Jeffries (Anthony Calvello) and Lisa Damone-Attfield (Jim); grandchildren, Nick (Cynthia), Sam (Josie), Leah, Joseph, RJ, Jade, Connor, Nina Scalzo, Frank Scalzo and Gino Scalzo; great-grandchildren, Nick Jr. and Mattea.
