Elizabeth O. "Betty" Scott

NIAGARA FALLS — Elizabeth O. "Betty" (nee Ostertag) Scott, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family, at her residence. Born on April 5, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Harriett (Genter) Ostertag.

Mrs. Scott was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Betty, as she was known by family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1939. On May 25, 1945, she married Joseph A. Scott. He predeceased her on July 22, 1993. Mrs. Scott and her late husband owned and operated the former Jo-Bett's Roller Rink  in Niagara Falls, NY. Betty served on the Board of Directors of the Niagara Falls Women's Bowling Association (NFWBA). She was the founder of the mother and daughter bowling league at the former Beverly Lanes, where she bowled for many years.  

Mrs. Scott is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth "Betty Jo" Bruno of Niagara Falls, NY; one granddaughter, Elizabeth "Beth Marie" Garbutt of Niagara Falls, NY; six great-grand-      children, Jaci, Joseph, Elizabeth, Danielle, MaryCatherine and Zackary; four great-great-grandchildren, Damien, Isabella, Noah and Jessamia and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by one brother, George (late Kay) Ostertag.  

The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where a funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 14th at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Pat Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. If  desired, memorial offerings may be made to a charity of one's choice.
