Kenneth A. Skowronski, Ed.D, 71, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Julian and Edna (Rajczak) Skowronski.
Kenneth was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and has lived in Lewiston for the past forty-five years. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Following high school, he attended Buffalo State College where he earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education. Ken continued his studies later on to earn his Doctorate in Education from the University of Buffalo and Administration Certification from Niagara University.
Kenneth married Diane (Polewicz) Skowronski on June 12, 1965 at Holy Trinity Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Ken began his career in education in 1966 as a teacher with the Lewiston-Porter School District, where he later became principal of the elementary school until his retirement from the district in 1997. Ken's dedication to education continued on as a graduate professor at Buffalo State College until 2011. He was a longtime active parishioner of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston where he served as an usher, as well as member and past president of their St. Vincent DePaul Society, and member of their Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa. Kenneth was a classic car enthusiast and avid reader, particularly of history. In his leisure time he enjoyed walking and traveling, especially to Walt Disney World each year.
In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, Ken is survived by his two daughters, Karen (Jon) Engel of Garner, NC and Debbie Skowronski of Lewiston, NY; one granddaughter, Lauryn Engel; two brothers, Norm (Chris) Skowronski of North Tonawanda, NY and Jeff (Chris) Skowronski of Orlando, FL; his sister-in-law, Marcia Kuczwanski of Coral Springs, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother, Bob (Barbara Ann of Wheatfield, NY) Skowronski.
