Dolores "Dee" Hescox

LEWISTON — Dolores "Dee" (nee Caimano) Hescox, 80, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Mount Saint Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born on November 17, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Andrus) Caimano.

Mrs. Hescox was a lifelong resident of the Town of Niagara, NY. Dee, as she was known by family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On November 21, 1954, she married James W. Hescox, Sr. in Niagara Falls, NY. He predeceased her on November 7, 2011. For 32 years, Mrs. Hescox worked as a bus driver for the Niagara-Wheatfield School District, until her retirement in the early 1990s. For over 20 years, Dee was a member of the Town of Niagara Lioness Club as well as a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Town of Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Company. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sadly missed. Mrs. Hescox was affectionately known as "Grandma Dee" to many. Dee was well-respected and remembered in her career as a bus driver. She had eight children of her own, but considered all the children she met, while driving bus, her own family. Mrs. Hescox loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hescox is survived by seven children, Joseph A. Hescox of Niagara Falls, NY, James W. (Teresa) Hescox of the Town of Niagara, NY, Clyde H. (Darla) Hescox of Elyria, OH, Jerry L. (Lisa) Hescox of Hague, VA, Patrick C. (Elaine) Hescox of Virginia, Dawn Sembert of the Town of Niagara, NY, and Teri L. Reynolds of the Town of Niagara, NY, and was predeceased by one daughter, Robin Farnsworth. Dee is also survived by 21 grand-   children, 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet (late Sal) Iadicicco and Rosemary (late Clarence) Krohn and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Justin Lee Marple officiating. Interment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Town of Niagara Lions Club, c/o Robert Shively, 1930 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
