Elizabeth J. Barry


Elizabeth J. (nee Greene) Barry, 82, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life, unexpectedly, on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her residence. Born on May 10, 1931 in Williamstown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Greene and the late Elizabeth (Spilker) Mohr.
Mrs. Barry came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family. Betty Jane, as she was known by family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from the former LaSalle High School. On November 5, 1947, she married Francis "Dewey" Barry. Mrs. Barry worked as a School Bus Driver for Ransomville Bus Lines and later on the production line at Harrison Radiator. Betty Jane enjoyed crocheting and in her younger years, bowling with her husband, Dewey. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her beloved husband of over sixty-six years, Mrs. Barry is survived by three children, Duane Barry of Philadelphia, PA, Gail Barry of Grand Island, NY and Beverly Barry of the Town of Niagara, NY; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Betty Jane is also survived by one brother, Frederick Greene of Lewiston, NY; one sister, Laura Harris of the Town of Niagara, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two daughters, Janice Barry and Barbara Rucci; and three siblings, Marlene Russell, Harold Greene and Susan McMaster.
There will be no prior visitation. A private committal service and burial will be held in North Ridge Cemetery in Cambria, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).
