George Arthis

LEWISTON — George Arthis, 76, of Lewiston, NY, passed from this life, unexpectedly, on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his residence. Born on November 29, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late George and Ruth (Weaver) Arthis, Jr.

Mr. Arthis attended local schools and earned an Associates Degree from Niagara County    Community College. George proudly served in the United States Army from 1960, until his honorable discharge in 1966. On February 11, 1972, he married the former Marlene L. Irish in Lewiston, NY.  Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Arthis moved to a home in Lewiston, where they have resided ever since. George worked as a Research and Development Technician for Bell Aerospace, Carborundum and Praxair. He retired from Praxair in 2009. Mr. Arthis was a member of the American Legion LaSalle Post #1142.

In addition to his beloved wife, Marlene, Mr. Arthis is survived by three siblings, James Arthis of Pine Hill, NJ, Mary Ann Meyers of Hollywood, FL, and Joseph Rogan of Connecticut; two loving sisters-in-law, Marilyn Skinner and Emma J. Pook, both of Wheatfield, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by one sister, Ruth Fergan.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, April 25th from 3-7 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).
