LEWISTON — Frank R. Fostin, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Acushnet, MA, he was the son of Frank and Frances (Viera) Fostin.

Frank served in the United States Air Force as a radar operator until his honorable discharge on October 1, 1954. Following his discharge, he moved to Niagara Falls, NY where he married his loving wife, Clara (Lumia) Fostin on August 26, 1972. In July of 2012, they renewed their wedding vows in celebration of 40 years together.

Mr. Fostin was employed as a shipping clerk for over 30 years at Unifrax, formerly the         Carborundum Company, in Niagara Falls, NY, until his retirement in 1990. During that time, he and his wife served as secretaries for their athletic leagues. Frank was a passionate sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox. He was also an avid golfer and was most proud of his hole-in-one on the sixth hole at Niagara Frontier Country Club where he was a member. He was a talented bowler and taught the game to many of his great-nieces and great-nephews. In his leisure time, he enjoyed building wood model ships and doll houses,        gardening, as well as spending time with his family. Known as Uncle Frank to all, he will be greatly remembered for his Cadillac convertibles and his strong sense of pride in his Portuguese heritage.

In addition to his beloved wife of 41 years, Frank is survived by his brother, John (Ann) Fostin of Florida; his sister, Renee (Henry) Simon of Massachusetts; his nieces, Patti (Frank) Linza of Lewiston, NY, Laurene (Ron) Winkley, Diane (Joseph) Riggi of Wheatfield, NY, Dale Mello of Florida, Carol Bryant of Ohio, Charlotte Bass of Florida; his nephews, Frank Fostin, John Fostin, Wayne Fostin, all of Massachusetts, Chuck Simon of Maine and J.D. Kittle of Florida. He is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins and soon to be one great-great-niece. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Kittle.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA        FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 20th, at 12:00 Noon at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating.  Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
