Two galleries openings at the NACC on Friday

Night & Day — A solo exhibit for artist John Pacovsky, featuring his hyper-realism and surreaslistic styles, will open Friday at the Niagara Arts And Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls,  and continue through June 9.

Pacovsky has recently re-located from Pennsylvania, where he spent the last 20 years doing commission work for Absolut Vodka, Grand Absente, Barbancourt Rum and Magellan Gin, as well as portraits, still life paintings and murals.  Over 100 of his paintings are  featured in the recent book, “Absente Images and Tastes of the Green Fairy.”

“The NACC was one of the first Arts Centers I discovered after moving to Western NY. Their creative re-use of space and their mission really impressed me,” said Pacovsky.

Pacovsky’s work has been exhibited at Avery Fisher Hall and at the French Embassy Cultural Services in NYC; Galeria Gotanda in Tokyo, Japan; Distilleries et Domaines de Provence, France; and at the Newman Galleries in Philadelphia. His paintings are in the permanent collections at both the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC., and at the Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA. In this unique local exhibition, Pacovsky will present a collection of artwork which represents primarily the hyper-realism and surreaslistic styles he has become known for, as well as his intriguing life-size box people.

Also, in the Garden Gallery at the NACC, artists Heather Upeala Johnson and Nikki Catalano-Richey have partnered for a gallery show titled “Torsion: Duo Art Show,” which also opens Friday. The show runs through June 2.
