Falls hosting Greater Niagara Fishing & Outdoor Expo this weekend

Night & Day —  Throughout the weekend, LOTSA is featuring free classes for attendees.

 Attendees will also enjoy the area’s greatest outdoor exhibitors featured on the main expo floor throughout the weekend as well as the seventh annual LOTSA Marketplace, with more than 50 vendors inside the ballroom, on Sunday. Admission to the LOTSA Marketplace is free

The expo also features interactive children’s programming throughout the weekend in its Kids’ Zone complete with a live Trout Pond where children can learn to catch fish, adventure area, face painter and other activities. The Aquarium of Niagara will also be on hand for those wanting to know more about any activities planned at their facility.

 Friday and Saturday feature LOTSA’s Kids Learn to Fish Classes, free with expo admission. These one-hour hands-on classes are geared toward novice children 12 and under, who are interested in fishing. A parent or guardian must accompany children attending these classes. 

 Children will learn basic fish identification, areas to fish, hook handling and other safety tips, basics of fishing, casting and will be able to use various fishing poles during the class.

 Saturday and Sunday will also feature special cooking demonstrations on the main stage by The Conference & Event Center’s own Chef Kate Elliott, where she will prepare specialty dishes using wild game, salmon and other fish.

 The Greater Niagara Fishing & Outdoor Expo times are 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.  Advance tickets are available at www.ticketfly.com and will be available at the door at $8 per person or $24 for a family of four.

Bass University Pro Angler Panel includes (subject to change): Saturday n Mike Iaconelli - Co-founder of Bass University, Iaconelli is one of the most successful and dynamic pros in the business. He has won the Bassmaster's Classic and the Angler of the Year. He is pure energy on the water and gives exciting and informative seminars that should not be missed. n Bernie Schultz - One of Florida's most accomplished anglers. His achievements include two Canadian and two U.S. titles, while qualifying for eight Bassmasters Classics and five FLW Championships. n John Murray - The only professional angler to win a fully rigged bass boat on every major western waterway from New Mexico to Washington, totaling 31. He has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic six times and is a two-time US Open Champion. Sunday n Pete Gluszek - Co-founder of Bass University, Gluszek has been competing on the highest professional levels for more than 10 years as he has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic three times and the FLW Outdoors Championship. Gluszek won the Bassmaster Northern Open on Cayuga Lake in 2012 and he currently has the record for the heaviest winning margin in the history of the FLW Stren Series. n Chris Zaldain - An accomplished young angler and proud to be competing amongst 99 of the top fishermen in the world on the Bassmaster Elite Series. He has worked his way up the professional fishing ladder since he won his first bass boat as a co-angler in 2005. n Ott DeFoe - DeFoe has been fishing professionally for six years now, with the first four being on the FLW Tour. 2011 was his rookie season the Bassmaster Elite Series. It teaches attendees about movement of fish during the day, downrigger formations for large and small boats, slide and stealth divers, and advanced techniques for lead core and copper lines. The class will be presented through a series of Powerpoint slides, personal demonstrations and handouts, while allowing for a question and answer period at the end.
