Night & Day — Niagara Falls, ON — Dean Cain, best known for his portrayal as Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has been confirmed for Niagara Falls Comic Con 2014.
“Last year we had television’s Batman (Adam West), so this year we though it would make perfect sense to bring in TV’s Superman,” said Chris Dabrowski, show manager for NFCC. “Superman is easily one of the most recognized Superheroes of all time, and probably Dean’s best-known role, so we’re really excited to land him as part of our celebrity line-up for 2014,” he added.
Cain is no stranger to the Niagara/WNY area. Immediately after graduating in 1988, the NFL’s Buffalo Bills signed Cain as a free agent, but a knee injury during training camp ended his football career. From there, he decided to enroll into acting and landed various gigs in dozens of commercials. He also appeared on popular television shows such as A Different World and Beverly Hills 90210, and also hosted the TBS series Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!. It wasn’t until 1993, that he took on his biggest roll to date as Superman.
This is Niagara Falls Comic Con’s third celebrity announcement to date. Earlier this month, the Con announced Alan Ruck, who played Cameron Frye in the 80s cult classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (also starred in Spin City), as well as the announced return of Jason David Frank, best known for his role as the “Green Ranger” Tommy Oliver in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
VIP, being offered for the first time, went on sale Friday. VIP tickets include: Early entrance into Niagara Falls Comic Con all three days (one hour early); Speed Pass which allows for front of the line autograph access and photo-ops for celebrity guests; exclusive NFCC lithograph, T-Shirt, hat, embroidered patch and pin-back button. The cost of the VIP package is $325. Only 200 are available.
“The VIP ticket will give the hardcore fan the ultimate Niagara Falls Comic Con experience. With only 200 available, they’re going to go fast. With the tickets into the event all three days (and early access), the swag and the more than 20 celebrities we have confirmed for 2014 but have yet to announce, it’s definitely worth the price tag,” added Dabrowski.
Niagara Falls Comic Con takes place over three days on June 6-8.
