Night & Day — Carol Calato, board chairman of the jazz festival, said that while the popular event is free, the cost to hold the festival exceeds $150,000, which is why the committee continues to fundraise.
“We are appealing to the community for help and support. This fundraiser really is a great value and helps us keep jazz alive and free in Western New York,” Calato said.

The 2013 Jazz Festival is scheduled for August 23 and 24. It is hosted by the town and village of Lewiston and the Lewiston Jazz Festival, Inc. The event draws more than 40,000 people annually.
Lewiston Jazz Festival Executive Director, Sandy Hays Mies noted that the Board of Directors is working hard to keep the Jazz Festival alive and free. “With cuts in state funding we must generate revenue from those who support live jazz and who wish to see this event kept free to the public.”
