Community Christmas planned by First Baptist

Night & Day — IN BRIEF

Community Christmas planned by First Baptist

The Wilson First Baptist Church hopes to encourage a sense of community in the lake-side village as it prepares for “Community Christmas Celebration,” being held at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Pastor Stephen Hay of the Wilson FBC said, “Every year we celebrate Christmas as a community and this year it’s no different.”

This year’s Christmas celebration will take place at the Wilson High School.  “That’s when the High School Auditorium doors will swing open so that every man, woman and child can gather to celebrate the real reason for the season,” said Hay.

The pastor acknowledged that it has been a tough year for many local families. But, he also noted that Wilson is a community that never quits in its support for those who are hurting and said he hoped that this holiday event will demonstrate that commitment once again.

In addition to Wilson FBC, several other churches in Wilson and surrounding communities will be taking part, but Hay stated that being “part” of a church is certainly not required and everyone regardless of their faith is welcome to come together to see and hear the Christmas story explained.

The event is offered free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information visit
