Niagara Gazette — Of course what Currington does offstage shouldn’t influence what he does onstage. He is one of country music’s rising stars and has toured with Sugarland, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Currington’s hits include “Must Be Doin’ Something Right,” “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “People are Crazy.” It should be a fun show when it happens.
On Sunday, British Indie rockers Bloc Party will be at The Rapids. The band has sold over 2 million albums worldwide, and performs at many major European music festivals. Their major influences include Sonic Youth, The Cure and Gang of Four. The band’s latest album “Four,” was released last August. They are a high energy band and known for being great live performers. This is a rare U.S appearance from the band so if you are a fan you will not want to miss the show.
On Wednesday, Guns N’ Roses will be performing at Buffalo’s Outer Harbor. The last time the band played in Western New York was when they appeared at Rich Stadium with Metallica in 1992. That was the lineup that was inducted in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including Axl Rose, Slash and Gilby Clarke. The current lineup only includes Rose.
Rose remains an interesting pop culture figure, known for late starts and other antics including his odd handling of the bands induction into the Rock Hall. Even without Slash and company it’s hard to knock the current lineup considering how many classic rock bands tour with few, if any, original members.Thom Jennings covers the local music scene for Night and Day.
