Drawing the crowds to Old Falls Street

Night & Day — A host of activities and special events are planned for Old Falls Street, USA this summer.

The TGI Fridays on Old Falls Free Outdoor Concerts, the live music series is under way with Lakeside and Murphy’s Law playing this week during Fourth of July festivities downtown. The concert series has moved to Old Falls Street’s conference center block this year, closest to Third Street, where attendees can enjoy sitting on the TGI Friday’s patio, as well as food and beverage vending.  Concerts run until 10 p.m. and are followed by fireworks launched over Niagara Falls.

This year, the concert series invites all car clubs or anyone wanting to cruise over in a classic or custom vehicle, to assemble on Old Falls Street.

This year’s schedule includes:

• July 11  – Whiskey Reverb

 July 18 – Rumourz (A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac)

• July 25 – Souled Out

• Aug. 1 – B-Side Basterds and Seven Thirty Seven

• Aug. 8 – Frank Grizanti Band

• Aug. 15 – Jamie Holka & Bruce Wojick

• Aug. 22 – Randall and the Late Night Scandals

• Aug. 29 – KISS This (Kiss Tribute Band)

• Sept. 5 – Aircraft with Well Worn Boot and Mr. Boneless

• Sept. 19 – West of the Mark

Returning this year is the ever-popular Flicks on Old Falls free outdoor movie series, held on Thursday evenings, from July 10 through Aug. 28, beginning at 9 p.m., on Old Falls Street’s middle block, weather permitting. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.  Food and beverage vending will be available each week.

This year’s schedule:

• July 10 – “Frozen”

• July 17 – “Space Jam”

• July 24 – “The Lego Movie”

• July 31 – “Back to the Future II”

• Aug. 7 – “The Goonies”

• Aug. 14 – “Man of Steel”

• Aug. 21 – “The Wiz”

• Aug. 28 – “Ratatouille”


For the second year in a row, Old Falls Street is also presenting a free local author lecture series, where guests will be able to interact with a variety of fiction and non-fiction writers, each Wednesday through Aug. 27, at 2 p.m., on Old Falls Street’s middle block. In case of inclement weather, the free lectures will be held inside the Barnes & Noble.
