On Tuesday at Darien Lake, they have an impressive triple bill that includes Journey, Steve Miller Band and Tower of Power, three bands from San Francisco. I have caught all three on different occasions over the years, and if you are not going to see Ringo then this show is your best bet.
Tickets start at $36 and are available through Ticketmaster.
On Wednesday at Artpark they will be hosting Ziggy Marley and Steel Pulse. If you are a fan of reggae music this may be your dream double bill. Ziggy is the son of the late Bob Marley and Steel Pulse is one of the most popular reggae bands of all time.
Advance general admission tickets are just $6 and week of show tickets jump to $11.
Finally, the show on a tank of gas is actually a bunch of shows. On Friday the Xerox International Jazz Festival kicks off in Rochester. I cannot honestly think of a better festival in the region. It is nine days long and it takes over a small section of downtown Rochester. I have attended it for a few years and each year I introduce new friends to it, and no one has been let down.
Details on the festival can be found at rochesterjazz.com.Thom Jennings covers the local music scene for Night and Day.
