'Serenata,' opens Friday with Italian American theme

Night & Day — “Serenata,” the third in a comedy series written about the Italian American culture by Niagara Falls teacher and playwright Linda Silvestri, will open Friday at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center.

A special edition of the play will be held Nov. 9 and will feature a dinner theater event with a “behind the scenes” presentation and dinner from the Como Restaurant, along with a special dessert table with beverages and a cash bar.

The play, “Serenata,” reflects Silvestri’s life in Niagara Falls, where she was born and raised. It brings to life the story of the Donato family as they deal with old losses, new loves and family unity. Audience members can watch as the family lives, laughs and loves in this world, and the next.

The show, which opens at 8 p.m. Friday, continues at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Nov. 16. Matinees are at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10 and Nov. 17.

The dinner theater event will begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 9 and the show will follow at 8 p.m. Patrons can also buy tickets for the performance alone. The dinner theatre package is $39 per person.

The play is produced by the Western Door Theatre in the Woodbox Theatre at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center,

at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave. Call the NACC at 282-7530 or visit the website at www.thenacc.org for more information.
