Twice the scares offered in Lewiston
BY KEVIN PURDY
Night & Day
This year, you have only half as many excuses as you might have had last year for not going on at least one of Lewiston’s Haunted History Ghost Walks.
That’s because the Lewiston Council on the Arts has expanded its popular Ghost Walks feature to Friday nights, along with the traditional Saturdays.
Friday walks are an invitation for all those who enjoy a good chill, with stops at the Village Graveyard, the Lewiston Historical Museum, Sunny’s Roost Bed and Breakfast and the Barton Hill Mansion.
Saturday tours are pitched at those with a more skeptical view of the paranormal. Mason Winfield, a supernatural historian who has written about many of Western New York’s extraordinary occurrences, details the rumors, the truth (or what’s known of it) and possible explanations.
Tours begin at 7 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October at the Lewiston Visitor Center, 476 Center St.
No reservations are needed. More information is available by calling 754-0166.

Is your trick-or-treater going out this year as a shark, a turtle or some other sea-worthy creature? Do you think you could make them into one?
If so, your child can get in for free to the Aquarium of Niagara’s annual Halloween Happenings Bash, taking place from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the aquarium, 701 Whirlpool St.
Even without costumes, both kids and their parents can attend for just $4, or half the normal price. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, treat bags will be given out and every kid receives a real pumpkin and tattoos from the Disney DVD release “Twitches!”
For more information, call 285-3575, Ext. 206.

One of two successful projects spawned from defunct post-hardcore heroes At The Drive-In hits town Friday.
Sparta, an El Paso, Texas, trio formed by three former members of ATD, is touring behind its newest disc, “Threes,” due out on Tuesday.
Sound Team and As Tall As Lions kick off the show at the Buffalo Icon, 391 Ellicott St., Buffalo, which opens at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 advance and $14 at the show, and are available on Tickets.com or charging by phone at (888) 223-6000.
