TUESDAY: Gasoline fueled explosion in upstate NY house (1:58 p.m.)

WEBSTER, N.Y. (AP) — Gasoline was sprinkled throughout a house near Rochester where two people were found dead after an explosion blew out the front wall.

Fire officials say that furniture and clothing were soaked with gasoline and the vapors ignited, triggering a fire Monday that heavily damaged the house in the suburb of Webster.

They don’t know yet how the fire was touched off.

The identities of a man and woman found dead inside won’t be known until autopsies are completed this week. The man had a gunshot wound to the head and a long gun was found nearby. It’s not clear how the woman died, but police say Tuesday they suspect the deaths were either a double murder or murder-suicide.
