TUESDAY: 2 dead in separate shootings in Buffalo (9:15 a.m.)

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Buffalo are investigating two separate fatal shootings, including one that claimed the life of a 51-year-old bar patron.

Detectives say Cheryl Booker was inside Lee’s Lounge early Monday morning when she was shot in the upper body. She was pronounced dead on arrival at a Buffalo hospital.

Witnesses told police another person was shot but the victim couldn’t be located by police.

In the other shooting, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were hit by gunfire from a car Monday afternoon. The 19-year-old, whose name hasn’t been released, died at the hospital while the 16-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
