WEDNESDAY: Comment period opens for projects (3:21 p.m.)

The fifth round of projects to be reviewed by the Niagara River Greenway Commission are currently available for public comment. Projects include the restoration of the Customs House, parks planning and bridge repairs in Niagara Falls and the Minnow Pools Rehabilitation in Buffalo.

The greenway commission reviews projects and then votes on whether they’re consistent with the Niagara River Greenway Plan. Projects are then judged by four committees, which are not bound by the commission’s ruling, who decide whether to fund them using New York Power Authority relicensing settlement money.

Public comments can be submitted at the commission’s Web site, www.niagaragreenway.org, or by hard copy to the commission at 2136 West Oakfield Road, Grand Island, 14072. The commission will vote on the projects at its Sept. 16 meeting.
