From car break-ins to tire slashings in Wilson

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were notified of several incident of vehicle tires being slashed in a trailer park in the Village of Wilson early Thursday morning.

The suspect in the tire slashings was described as a 6-foot tall white man wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans.

Deputies responded to incidents at B and D streets in Dorwood Park. None of the victims had any idea who would want to cause the damage to their cars.

The incidents come a day after a rash of car break-ins were reported in the village.

A Wood Street man said he saw three males going through his car about 3:30 a.m.Wednesday and managed to grab one of them, a juvenile. The other two youths ran off into some nearby woods. The youth was charged with petit larceny and turned over to his parents.

One Lake Street victim reported to a deputy that someone entered her unlocked car overnight Tuesday and stole a Samsung Slider cell phone, a black leather purse, her driver's license and three credit/debit cards.

The office has fielded several reports of car break-ins and residents are advised to check their vehicles and report any thefts to the sheriff's office.
