National Guard medical group at Falls air base has new commander

There is a new commander at the New York Air National Guard's 107th Medical Group.

State officials on Friday announced that Lt. Col. Emily Desrosier is now in charge. The group is a unit of the 107th Airlift Wing at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

Desrosier was previously assigned to the 106th Rescue Wing, based at F.S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach. During nine years at the Long Island base, she served as the support coordination officer for space shuttle launches and was part of a team tasked with coordinating rescue and recovery efforts in case of shuttle emergencies.

The 107th Medical Group flies C-130 cargo aircraft in partnership with the 914th Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve.

Desrosier assumed command Sept. 14.
