Driver in fatal Youngstown crash identified

YOUNGSTOWN —

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office has identified Marlo G. Jackson, 30, of Lockport, as the driver in the fatal crash off of Church Road Thursday.

The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses said a red ford Explorer, traveling west on Church Street, failed to stop at a stop sign at Main Street. The SUV smashed through a guardrail and continued about 100 feet down an embankment before flipping over in relatively shallow water. Sheriff's deputies said when they arrived on the scene, they found Jackson "unresponsive" in the front seat of the SUV.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The results of an autopsy are also expected to be released today.
