6-year-old Niagara Falls girl nearly dragged away by school bus

Niagara Falls police are investigating an accident on Whitney Avenue Tuesday afternoon in which a 6-year-old girl's hand became stuck in a school bus that was beginning to pull away.

The girl was getting off the bus about 3 p.m. and the driver thought she had cleared the door but he trapped her hand when he closed it, according to Falls police.

The girl's mother realized what was happening and began banging on the door as the driver started to drive off, pulling out the girl's hand as he opened the door.

The girl suffered brush burns to her hand and was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.
