LEWISTON — The weather outside's been frightful so why not head indoors for some lessons on the sporting life.
The Greater Niagara Fishing and Outdoor Expo continues from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at The Conference and Event Center Niagara Falls, 101 Old Falls St.
Today's featured guests include fishing pros Mike Iaconelli and Pete Gluszek, co-founders of Bass University. The Bass University Pro Angler Panel discussions will be featured on the Main Stage and are free with expo admission.
Iaconelli is one of the most successful and dynamic pros in the business and has won the Bassmaster’s Classic and the Angler of the Year. Gluszek has been competing on the highest professional levels for more than 10 years as he has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic three times and the FLW Outdoors Championship. Gluszek won the Bassmaster Northern Open on Cayuga Lake in 2012 and he currently has the record for the heaviest winning margin in the history of the FLW Stren Series, finishing almost 18 pounds in front of second place. He is a river specialist and has won on both the Bassmaster and FLW Outdoors tournament trails.
In addition, today's guests will include "The Asprin Buster" Frank Addington, Jr., an archer known for his one-of-a-kind shots with his bow and arrow, including hitting aerial targets as small as baby aspirin shot from mid air from behind his back.
Attendees will also enjoy outdoor exhibitors featured on the main expo floor throughout the weekend as well as the seventh annual LOTSA Marketplace, with more than 50 vendors inside the ballroom, on Sunday.
The expo also features interactive children’s programming throughout the weekend in its Kids’ Zone complete with a live Trout Pond where children can learn to catch fish, adventure area, face painter and other activities. The Aquarium of Niagara will also be on hand for those wanting to know more about any activities planned at their facility.
Saturday and Sunday will also feature special cooking demonstrations on the main stage by The Conference & Event Center’s own Chef Kate Elliott, where she will prepare specialty dishes using wild game, salmon and other fish.
The festival continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Advance tickets are available at www.ticketfly.com and will be available at the door at $8 per person or $24 for a family of four. Additional information can be found at www.niagarafishingexpo.com or at www.facebook.com/niagarafishingexpo.
